Cuisine American, Belgian
- 1 banana (cut into chunks and frozen)
- 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats (or quick oats)
- 2 Tbsp Biscoff spread
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup milk
- pinch of salt
- handful of ice cubes (optional, for a thicker smoothie)
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. (If it isn't as thick as you want it, add a handful of ice cubes and blend again until smooth.)
Add toppings if desired, then enjoy!
Helpful Tips:
- Slice your banana into chunks before freezing. That way, it'll fit easier in your blender. If you only have a whole frozen banana, place it in a zippable plastic bag and crush it into pieces with a rolling pin or other heavy object.
- If you don’t have a banana that’s frozen, you can add a handful of ice to thicken (and chill) the smoothie. (It'll just be slightly less flavorful).
- For a more intense Biscoff flavor, add an additional tablespoon of Biscoff spread.
- If you don’t like the texture of blended oats in smoothies: pulse the oats on their own before adding any other ingredients. Once they're a fine powder, add the rest of the ingredients and blend again.
- Different brands of cookie butter have different levels of added sugar. For example, the Trader Joe's version has less sugar than the one I used (Nuccina). You may want to add maple syrup to your smoothie (to taste), depending on how sweet you want it.
